One of the coolest things about some of the angelfish is how dramatically they change from juvenile colors to adult colors. Even though angelfish can be coral eaters I've always wanted an emperor angelfish. To me an emperor just says reef. Several months after I got my emperor I took this photo:
As you can see by the time I took the photo he was already developing the dark band across his eyes and some of the white lines were starting to fade. Thinking back I remember worrying a little bit because it seemed like it was taking forever for the fish to lose the juvenile colors and I had been told by another aquarist that sometimes they never fully change.
Well there is good news! Here is what he looks like now (I just used a point and shoot camera so the photos didn't come out too well):
